Mr. Compe was born October 22, 1924, in New York City. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1942 and served his country in the Navy during World War II. He attended the University of Rochester and Cornell University and was a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University. He married Marion Donahue, Worcester, Mass., on January 14, 1951. They lived in Elmsford, NY where they raised their six children. They retired to DeLand in 1989 with their daughter, Michelle and her husband, Richard. Always civic-minded, Vic was a member and former Lt. Governor of Kiwanis and a member of Knights of Columbus. He was a former lector at St. Peter's Parish, DeLand, and a former member of DeLand Country Club, where he served as president of the Board of Directors and the Men's Golf Association, and the Beresford Yacht Club.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marion; and his son, Victor (wife, Samantha); and, in addition to Michelle, his daughters, Jean-Marie (husband, Richard), Mandy (husband, Paul, deceased), and Lisa; and his two grandsons, Richard and Anthony. He was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie.

Those who knew Vic, knew that he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all. He enjoyed nothing better than a good meal, a fun party, and to be surrounded by those he loved. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to The Hospice of Volusia/Flagler which was a comfort to Vic and his family in his final days. We invite you to sign the Guest Book maintained by the Daytona Beach News Journal.
