Marvin TincherCelebration of the Life of Marvin Tincher, a resident of Ormond Beach and DeLand since 2001, who died Sunday, May 4, 2008, will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at The Cloisters, DeLand. Mr. Tincher was born July 28, 1916, in McKee, KY. He moved here from Nashville, TN, where he lived for 51 years and was the regional attorney, Office of the Solicitor, U.S. Department of Labor, before retiring in 1980.

He was a Navy lieutenant during World War II, serving in the Canal Zone and aboard the U.S.S. Monterey in the South Pacific as the communications officer. He received his law degree from the University of Kentucky and a postgraduate degree from the U.S. Naval Academy.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Doris Holmes Tincher. He leaves behind three daughters, Gayle Walden (John), Montgomery, AL, Judy Monaco (David), Ormond Beach, and Anne Tincher, Louisville, KY; four granddaughters, Christina Nedorostek, Alexandria, VA, Rosemary Walden, College Station, Texas, Dr. Melissa Jackson, DeLand, and Ellen Lease, Louisville; two great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Phipps, Lexington, KY; and close friend, Julie Boyd, DeLand.
