Charles Jakobsen

September 29, 1923 - June 2, 2008

Charles Jakobsen, 84, DeLand, died June 2, 2008, at Florida Hospital DeLand. He was born in New York and moved to this area in 1963 from Maine. Charles worked as a radio technician for the State of Florida and was a member of the DeLand Railroad Association. As a hobby, he loved to play in bands and share his love for music. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include his stepson, Rick Ballentine, DeLand; six daughters, Cindy Ballentine, DeLand, Kathy Flanders, Pinedale, Wyo., Debbie (Chuck) Ball, Rockland, Maine, Linda (Brad) Knight, Lincolnville, Maine, LuAnn (Danny) Dawes, San Antonio, Texas, and Bonnie (Terry) Barnett, O'Brien, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Jean Jakobsen, and grandson, Connor Knight.
