Charles R. Hammel, Sr.

January 19, 1923 - June 21, 2008

Funeral service for Charles R. Hammel Sr., 85, DeLand, who died June 21, 2008, at FloridaHospital DeLand, will be Thursday, June 26, at 10 a.m. at the Alliance Chapel in DeLand. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lankford Funeral Home.

Mr. Hammel was born in Altoona, PA and moved here in 2006 from Clifton, NJ. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was an engineer for the Worthington Corporation for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Rose Gallo Hammel; two sons, Charles R. Hammel Jr., Austin, Texas

and Richard Allen Hammel, North Caldwell, NJ; one brother, Ralph Hammel, DeLand, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
