David T. Berg
April 7, 1930 - November 4, 2007
Memorial service for David T. Berg, son of George and Marie T. Berg, will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2007, at Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand.
Mr. Berg was born in 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1953 and then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. He came to Florida in 1973 with wife, Claire, and four children, Eric, Beth, Amy and Karl.
He taught accounting and business at DBCC and established a small business and accounting firm, which served West Volusia for over 30 years. He was an enthusiastic duplicate bridge player, becoming a Silver Life Master. Active in the DeLand Bridge Club, he was a former president and treasurer of that organization.
In later years he and wife, Lynn, traveled to play bridge tournaments and also to direct and teach bridge on cruise ships. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed camping and the beach.
Besides Lynn, he is survived by sisters, Rosemary Charles and Nancy Lewis; and brothers, George and Bernie Berg; as well as his children, Eric (wife, Monica, and daughters, Savannah and Shilo), Beth (husband, Benji Tomassetti, son, Anthony, and daughter, Chiara), Amy (husband, Kenny Whitmarsh, sons, Ryland and Blake David), and Karl (wife, Soraya).
David loved "delightful DeLand" and, in his memory and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations suggested to the funds for Votran benches located near Florida Hospital DeLand through Mainstreet Community Bank. We invite you to sign the Guest Book maintained by the Daytona Beach News Journal.
