Anne Schueth passed away peacefully January 7th at Halifax Health Hospice surrounded by her loving husband and four children.
Anne was born on July 26, 1938, in West Point, Nebraska, to Simon and Lucille Loisel. As the youngest of nine children, Anne was doted upon by her dear sister Mary Margaret and her seven brothers. She attended Guardian Angels High School in West Point followed by Duchesne Nursing School in Omaha. After receiving her nursing cap Anne married the love of her life, Bill Schueth, beginning a partnership rooted in love and devotion that lasted over 66 years.
With four children born in four different states in five years, Anne became a master of both motherhood and moving — setting up a loving home and jumping into each new community with enthusiasm as she supported Bill’s career. Anne’s children have happy memories of station wagon vacations across the country each summer, always seeing aunts, uncles and cousins along the way. As teens, they couldn’t wait for Julys at The Pelican in New Smyrna Beach where they’d enjoy summer fun with a host of DeLand friends and families.
After more than a dozen cross-country moves, Anne and Bill finally settled down for good in DeLand where they enjoyed tennis, bridge and Gourmet Club and Anne’s garden club and book club. Anne was happiest when her children would visit after leaving the nest. The “Casserole Queen” made sure every homecoming was fun, warm and memorable.
Once grandchildren came along, “Grammy and Pops” would road trip across the country to see them, always there for big milestones and the small ones, too. They were an essential part of their grandkids’ lives… playing Hand & Foot or Mexican Train, cheering them on at sports games, taking them to the beach or pool, reading to them and caring for them. Well into adulthood, and though some were far way, Anne was very close to all of her grandchildren. They knew they could count on her for warmhearted conversations and unwavering love and support.
Anne and Bill loved to travel, whether across the country or around the globe, often times with dear friends. When it came time to stay closer to home, Anne cherished the birthday lunches and happy hours spent with her treasured girlfriends.
Anne is survived by her husband, Bill Schueth, and her four children Bill Schueth Jr., Stacia Glancy, Suzanne Guthrie and Stephanie Schueth; nine grandchildren and three great grandsons. She will be remembered as a loving wife, Mom, Grammy and Great Grammy. Her kind spirit touched many lives and will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A memorial mass will be held for Anne on Wednesday January 21, 2026, at 1:00 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. The family requests that, if you wish, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
