Basil Kustodowicz, died peacefully on May 2nd, at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City FL. Born on May 2nd in Brylince Poland, Basil lived a life of service that brought him all over the world. Son of the village pastor, he spent his life as a servant of God working as a minister for nearly sixty years. After completing seminary in Eastern Europe, Basil moved to the United States in 1963 and in the process of learning English he earned degrees in theology from Randolph Macon College and Duke University. In 1988, he traveled to Munich Germany to participate in the celebration of a millennium of Christianity in Ukraine. Basil loved spending time outside as an avid bike rider, jogger, and gardener. He also lived with a song in his heart, often listening to music in the evenings and singing with family. A proud Ukrainian, he also enjoyed researching, writing, and speaking about Ukraine. Often he wrote about his life growing up in a village and worked with projects dedicated to preserving Ukrainian history and culture. The sole son in a family of six sisters, all of whom preceded him in his journey home. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years Carol Kustodowicz, their son Andrew Kustodowicz, and his wife Megan Dennis. He will be buried in Pinehurst Cemetery, DeLeon Springs, after a small graveside service at 11am on Friday, May 9th.
