Heaven just got a little rowdier. Our deeply loved and treasured Mom, Grandma, Nana, Mawmaw, Aunt, and dear friend, Betty Jean Garrard, was born on July 1, 1933, and peacefully passed away at home in Deltona, Florida, on March 18, 2026, surrounded by love.
Betty lived a full and meaningful life, touching the hearts of everyone she met. She was the kind of woman who made an impression the moment she walked into a room—like a warm ray of sunshine. Her presence was unforgettable, her laugh contagious, and her spirit truly one of a kind. She had a gift for making others feel seen and heard, always offering a listening ear, honest advice, and unconditional love.
Betty was unapologetically herself—bold, genuine, and full of life. Known affectionately as “Betty Boop,” she brought laughter wherever she went and was often the funniest person in the room. Her sense of humor, quick wit, and lively personality will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew her. Betty found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. She loved reading, playing competitive games, bingo, and expressing her creativity through arts and crafts. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family and friends. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a casual visit, or a simple conversation, those moments meant everything to her.
Her love extended far beyond her immediate circle. Betty had a servant’s heart and a deep passion for helping others. She dedicated countless hours to giving back to her community, especially through her incredible talent for crocheting. With her own hands, she created and donated over 14,000 handmade items to angel babies at Arnold Palmer Hospital and AdventHealth Hospital. Each stitch was made with love, compassion, and a desire to bring comfort to families during difficult times. Her kindness left a lasting impact that will continue to reach lives for years to come.
Betty’s legacy is one of love, laughter, strength, and generosity. She taught those around her the importance of being authentic, caring deeply for others, and finding joy in everyday life. The memories she created and the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the blessing of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the stories we share, the laughter we remember, and the love she leaves behind.
