Charles “Charlie” Ray Reeves, 88, of DeLand, Florida, passed away at his home on May 22, 2026.

Charlie was born on April 6, 1938, in Andalusia, Alabama, to Conley and Alpha Reeves. As a young boy, he moved with his family to DeLand, Florida, where he built his life and made his forever home.

At the age of 18, Charlie proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. After returning home, he worked various jobs while always helping and supporting his mother in any way he could. He eventually began working for the City of DeLand doing tree work, where he discovered the trade that would become his life’s passion.

In 1967, Charlie founded Reeves Tree Service. For decades, he served the community with pride, dedication, and integrity, continuing to work until just months before his passing. Through his strong work ethic, honesty, and Southern charm, he built what became the longest-running tree service in DeLand. Along the way, he earned the loyalty and friendship of countless customers, businesses, and members of the community. DeLand is a better place because of Charlie and the life he lived in service to others.

Charlie’s passions were hunting, running dogs, boating, fishing, football, and racing. He also loved playing the slot machines and was always happy to make a trip to Biloxi, Mississippi. One of his favorite daily routines was riding through the woods with his beloved dog, Zoey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Conley and Alpha Reeves; his brothers, Don Reeves and Bob Lee; his sister, Millie Lindsley; and his daughter, Sandra Voelker.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Lois Reeves; his children, Larry Reeves, Brenda Reeves (Mike), Tammy Kesselring (Steve), Matt Myers, Gina Johns, Janice Hand (Billy), and Lorraine Warren; as well as Douglas Farris, who was like a son to him. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Charlie will be remembered for his kindness, his warm southern personality, his honest and hardworking spirit, and the generosity he showed to everyone who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at First Assembly DeLand, 551 S. Kepler Road, DeLand, Florida 32724, beginning at 10 a.m.
