David Lee Lucas passed on July 29, 2025 at the home of his son David J and wife Tammy Lucas in Deltona, Florida
Born July 5, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to parents John and Ella Lucas. He is preceded in death by his parents, older brother William and older Sister Ella and is survived by his younger brother Robert Lucas currently of Munhall, Pa.
Following military service from 1956 to 1958 in Germany, David was married to and is survived by Anna Jane (Jane) Long of Pittsburgh, PA (currently of Deltona, FL) on August 8 1959 with whom they raised and he is survived by three children, daughter - Denise M. White, sons David J. Lucas and wife Tammy and Douglas M. Lucas, Sr. and wife Cristina all who are also currently of Deltona, FL and have enjoyed very close bonds and have been joined locally by eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren
David's career path began in earnest as an apprentice technician for the Toledo Scale company in 1960 in the Pittsburgh Area and rapidly progressed within that industry that saw him relocate his family to Texas in 1968 in local and regional service management roles before being recruited by Cardinal Detecto Scale Company for a regional position that within a short period saw him progress to National Vice President of Sales and relocate to Joplin, Mo in 1984.
In 1988 He relocated to Deltona, Florida where he served as President of First Weigh Manufacturing Company in Sanford, Florida. Following his retirement, he continued to serve as President of First Weigh's affiliated parent companies USA investment interest through 2022.
David was a talented artist, creating several paintings as a hobby which he shared with friends and family throughout his life. He was a man of service to the religious congregations and social organizations he patronized, serving on the boards of those organizations in the roles of treasurer and presidents throughout his life. He was a most trusted and respected member of his community and among his friends. He enjoyed supporting his children's activities at every opportunity and was most popular among their friends in scouting, sports, drama and other extracurricular activities.
Funeral Services will be held on August 7, 2025 at the Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E New York Ave, DeLand, FL 32724 with Visitation (Open Casket) from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM and the Memorial Services from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Gravesite Burial Services including Military Honors will take place at the Enterprise Evergreen Cemetery, 133-165 Enterprise Rd, Deltona, FL 32725 upon the procession’s arrival at Approx. 3:45 PM – 4:15 PM
