Gary Wayne Hutson

Gary Wayne Hutson, 65 of DeLand, FL, was called to heaven on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife Joveann Hutson, brother Craig Hutson, and family of Lady Lake, FL.

Gary was born on February 18, 1960 in Hollywood, FL to the parents of Claude and Dorthy Hutson predeceased. He played football and graduated from Hollywood Hills High School. Gary worked in the telecommunication industry for over 40 years and retired from Lumen Technologies in 2022. He was a huge Nascar and college football fan (GO NOLES). Gary loved the beach, and he enjoyed traveling. He was very passionate about anything related to military history and in the 1980s he participated in several Civil War reenactments, including the Ocklawaha River Raids, Brooksville Raid, the Battle of Natural Bridge, and the most sentimental to him, the 125th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg in 1988.

Gary was a man of great integrity, and his kind ways and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. He will be forever loved and missed by so many.

Services will be held at Lankford Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. A visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM with the funeral service starting at 6:00 PM.
