James "Scott" Griffey

James “Scott” Griffey, 48, of DeLand, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on October 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Scott was born on March 4, 1977, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to Clyde and Lela Griffey. He spent his early years in Kentucky before settling in Florida, where he lived most of his adult life. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication, Scott was proud of his career as a lineman and respected by his colleagues and admired for his skill and commitment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lela. Scott is survived by his brother and his wife, John and Judy Griffey; his sister and her husband, Shelly and Brian Walkenhorst; and two nieces, two nephews, and two great-nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family and many friends, all of whom loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Full Gospel in DeLeon Springs, Florida.

Scott will be remembered for his big heart, strong spirit, and the love he shared with everyone around him. He was loved by many and will be missed greatly.
