It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Christie Kinney at her home on September 11, 2026. Born on June 2, 1930, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Joan was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Anne Law Christie. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and devotion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Joan's journey began in Hackensack, where she graduated from Hackensack High School. She furthered her education with various credits from Hood College in Maryland. Her professional life was one of dedication and service, as she worked as a Secretary for the US Army Civil Service offices, including positions at the Criminal Investigation Division and Post Commander Office in Fort Sheridan, Illinois, and Health Services Command in San Antonio, Texas.

On August 14, 1949, Joan married her beloved Kenneth Kinney. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years, raising three daughters with love and creating a home filled with laughter. Kenneth predeceased Joan, but their love story remains a guiding light for their family. Joan's legacy continues through her children: Donna Bullard, Diane Lange, and Deb (Rich) Denning, as well as her seven grandchildren Heather, David, Kerri, Chad, Ryan (Cassie), Alex (Lauren), Katie (Evan), and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons-in-law Nash Bullard and Neal Lange.

Joan was a woman of many talents and interests. A passionate dancer with an unyielding love for music, she held line-dancing classes and shared her joy with others. An active member and Queen of the Red Hats, she was known for her vibrant spirit and dedication. Her love of boating, camping, and playing hymns on the piano and organ enriched her family's life. As a bingo enthusiast, she delighted in calling games and bringing people together through laughter and camaraderie.

Those who knew Joan will remember her sweet attitude and warm smile. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and her kindness and generosity touched countless lives. Her enduring spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

A service to celebrate Joan's remarkable life will be held on November 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Stetson Baptist Church, located at 503 N Spring Garden Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Joan's memory.
