Jose V. Duncil Jr. (Jhun), 78, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 1, 2025.
Born on December 15, 1946, in Pampanga, Philippines, Jose was one of thirteen siblings in a close-knit and spirited family. His life was marked by deep faith, personal discipline, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
A proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Jose earned his 2nd Degree Exemplification and devoted over three decades as a faithful church usher. His presence in the church was both steadfast and comforting to parishioners who came to rely on his warm smile and helping hands.
A lifelong martial artist, Jose held a 3rd Degree Black Belt and taught karate and Arnis de Mano, the Filipino art of stick fighting. He was a skilled competitor, earning several championships over the years and inspiring many students with his discipline, strength, and humility.
Outside the dojo, Jose was an avid fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and loved watching boxing. His enthusiasm for sports was matched only by the joy he found in spending time with his family.
Jose is survived by his beloved wife, Juliet Duncil; his two sons, Jonathan and Jason Duncil; and a large extended family who will cherish his memory and legacy of integrity, dedication, and love.
A Wake Service will be held on Friday, July 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand, FL. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 12, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, followed by burial at Oakdale Cemetery.
Jose’s life was a testament to faith, family, and fierce dedicational legacy that will live on in the many lives he touched.
