Lester Paul Larr, 67, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Florida.
Born on August 14, 1958, in Belleville, Illinois, at Scott Air Force Base, Lester grew up in an Air Force family. His childhood was spent in many places, including Dover, DE; San Antonio, TX; Pottstown, PA; Glen Burnie, MD; and Biloxi, MS. He graduated from Biloxi High School in 1976 and later attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, where he pursued his lifelong passion for the arts.
Lester built a successful career in photography, earning multiple awards during his time with Olan Mills and Lifetouch for his outstanding work behind the camera. He had a gift for capturing the beauty of life, once sharing his philosophy: “God creates the beauty. My camera and I are a witness.”
Beyond his profession, Lester’s passions included photography, music, record collecting, traveling, and rooting for his beloved Washington Redskins. His family and friends will remember him for his creative spirit, warm heart, and adventurous outlook on life. A favorite quote that reflected his approach to living was Henry David Thoreau’s: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.”
Lester was preceded in death by his father, Eldon. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; stepdaughter, Jennifer; daughter, Karalea (Eric); grandsons, Jacob and Oliver; mother, Ruth; siblings, Dagmar (Mike), Robert (Maria), Lenore (Kevin), Patty, and Tony (Wanda); along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherished him deeply.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Lester’s memory be made to the ALS Association, honoring his life and legacy.
