Loritha Baker Boone, age 94, of DeLand, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in DeLand, Florida. She was born on December 29, 1931, in Cordell, Oklahoma, and lived a life marked by faith, dedication to family, and service to her community.
Loritha was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed with four children, sixteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of her life. She was known as a constant source of love, strength, and encouragement, always present for her children and grandchildren whenever they needed her.
Throughout her professional life, Loritha was a successful businesswoman. She was the co-owner of Fidelity Van and Storage and Eastside Moving and Storage, where her hard work and integrity earned her great respect. After retiring from the moving and storage business, she began a new chapter as a realtor, continuing her commitment to helping others. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
A woman of deep faith, Loritha was a faithful member of her Baptist church. Her faith guided her life and brought her comfort and peace. She especially loved hosting large family dinners, filling her home with laughter, good food, and togetherness. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her beloved dog, Scarlette.
Loritha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Baker, who passed at the age of 71; her daughter, Joann Thomas; and her step-sons, Mahlon Baker and Robert Baker. She is survived by her children, Charlene Eischen, Betty Lucas, and Paul Baker; her sister, Vera Jackson; along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
Loritha was truly loved by all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family will be remembered always.
Scripture reminds us of God’s promise: “They will still bear fruit in old age; they will stay fresh and green.” Psalm 92:14 “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25–26 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” Revelation 21:4
As one quote so beautifully says, “A grandma is someone who plays a special part in all the treasured memories we hold within our heart.” Loritha’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 26, at 11:00 a.m. at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
