Monty Trickey, 58, of DeLand, Florida, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
A true Florida native through and through, Monty was known for his strong work ethic, his loyalty to those he loved, and his deep roots in the community. He proudly spent many years working as an equipment operator with Duke Energy, where his reliability and dedication earned the respect of all who worked alongside him.
When the workday ended, Monty’s world revolved around his family. Whether he was in the woods hunting with lifelong friends or out on the water with his loved ones, Monty found joy in the outdoors and peace in the simple pleasures of Florida living. But nothing meant more to him than the time spent with his girls—his pride and joy, and the center of his heart.
Monty was preceded in death by his father, James Trickey.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Melissa Trickey; his beloved daughters Tori Trickey (Hunter), Kendra Trickey (Jake), and Kasey Thomas; his daughter-in-law Roni Thomas; and his precious granddaughter, Rudy Thomas. He also leaves behind his mother, Shirley English; his brother Bill Miller (Laurel); his sisters Jamie Wise (Tom) and Ramelle Nicholson; his brother-in-law Tuck Trentham (Laura); and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Monty’s life will be held on Saturday, July 5th, at Granville Farms, located at 954 N. Prevatt Rd, Lake Helen, FL. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories beginning at 2:00 p.m., with food and fellowship to follow.
Monty will be remembered as a family man, a friend you could count on, and someone who lived life the way it was meant to be lived—honestly, fully, and with love.
