Rebecca Jane Kindy, passed away October 6, 2025 at Halifax Hospice Care Center, Orange City, FL. Rebecca was born on September 19, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio. As a young girl she moved to Miami, FL before the family relocated to DeLand in 1974. Rebecca was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Germaine Tantone, her brother Jim Tantone, and husband Douglas Kindy. She is survived by her daughters Lisa Ogram (James), and Brittany Kindy, as well as her grandson Jonas Ogram. She is also survived by her sister Mary Armacida Rueth (Joe), brothers Paul Wollan (Diane), Jack Tantone (Gail), and Charles Tantone (Deborah), as well as her beloved step-children Christina Jones (Jamie), Mona Samper (Jordan), and Jeremy Kindy (Lori), with additional grandsons Hayden Jones, Michael Quinn, Marshall Quinn, and Ronin Kindy.
Rebecca took great pride in raising her daughters and being a full-time, live-in grandmother to Jonas Ogram. Her whole family meant the world to her. She also found much purpose in her career, which began at the Volusia County Clerk’s Office and ended as a Judicial Assistant to a Circuit Court Judge. In a mock-trial, she played the role of Snow White as a witness in the prosecution of the Seven Dwarfs! She was deeply interested in social justice, the rule of law, and democratic due process. In her later years she fondly recounted working with professionals in the legal community throughout Volusia County. She famously reminded her children that “two wrongs don’t make a right.”
Rebecca was a passionate consumer of books, she loved to read! Not surprisingly, she favored books about solving crimes. She also thoroughly enjoyed the four-legged family members, beloved dogs and cats. She had an enthusiasm for living life that was contagious, often dancing to the music of her era; from Elvis to Aretha, she loved to celebrate life.
