Richard A. Colegrove (Rick), 72, of Geneva, Florida passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at Advent Health Hospital, Orlando Florida.
Rick was born in Bethesda, Maryland, on September 28, 1953, to Lillie and Richard Colegrove. He and his family made Sanford, Florida their permanent home, and is where Rick practiced law for over 30 years. He faithfully served his All Souls Catholic Church family for many years, serving in many different ministries. Rick had a talent for playing many instruments and writing music, but his passion was guitar. So many guitars. He would always comment to people that he was just a poor dumb guitar player from Sanford. A statement that couldn’t be further from the truth. He was so much more.
Rick loved our “country” life in the middle of the woods, sitting on the porch with a good cigar and a Grand Marnier. That’s where he did his best thinking. Many a debate was held on that porch (he was an attorney, after all), adventures planned and just taking in the peace and quiet of nature. He was a foodie, wine connoisseur, loved stargazing and all things Star Trek and especially loved his little buddy Finnigan our cat.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Collette and their only child Andrew who will cherish his memory always, along with a wide circle of friends who together will miss his laugher and wisdom and commentary.
Services in memory of Rick will be announced at a later date.
