Robert Edward Horan

Robert Edward Horan, 75, of Volusia County, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025.

Born on August 13, 1949, in Dalton, Georgia, Robert was the cherished son of George and Grace Horan. He was raised in DeLand, Florida, where he would eventually meet the love of his life, Debbie. The two were married on December 12, 1981, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

A proud graduate of Tennessee Military Institute, Robert carried with him the values of discipline, integrity, and service throughout his life. He served as an assistant Scout Master, always eager to guide and mentor the next generation. His legacy of leadership and compassion touched many, both in his community and within his own family.

Robert was a man of many passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in nature’s beauty, a golfer who embraced the game’s challenges, and a sports enthusiast who cheered with heart and soul. Known to family and friends as the “Grill Master,” he took pride in every meal he prepared, turning even simple gatherings into memorable feasts.

Above all, Robert was a devoted family man. He was the rock of his family—selfless, humble, and wise. He delighted in every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, earning him the well-deserved title of "World’s Greatest Grandfather." With a camera always at hand, he became the family’s photographer and storyteller, preserving precious memories for generations.

An adventurer at heart, Robert approached life with courage, curiosity, and a deep love for those around him. His quiet strength, warm spirit, and enduring kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Thursday, June 5, from 2-4PM at Lankford Funeral Home.
