Ronald F. Zukoski, 87, passed away on April 7th, 2026. He was born on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to John P. and Lucille Zukoski.

He enlisted in the Navy after graduating from high school. After 4 years, he decided to transfer his services to the United States Air Force, specializing in avionics. Retiring after 20 years, Ron was always a proud veteran and patriot who truly loved his country. He was an accomplished and awarded aviator and civilian flight instructor. Later, he worked as an Assessment Specialist at Daytona State College, also for 20 years.

He loved learning and adventure, cuisine, and cruises with his beloved wife, enjoyed the performing arts, especially ballet and classical music. He spent much time studying history, astronomy and also had a chess club, trying to help others to become as skilled as he was.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend, who truly cherished his family. He will be profoundly missed.

He is survived by his sister Diane Hammack, daughters Michelle Simerly (Tim), Linda Burke, son John Zukoski (Penny), and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann, and son Michael David.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to either the Wounded Warrior Project or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Graveside services will be held at Deland Memorial Gardens, 600 E. Beresford Avenue, Deland, Florida on Saturday June 6 at 11 am.
