Rose Marie Hooper

Rose Marie Hooper, 96, of Orange City, passed away April 23, 2025. 

Rose Marie was born April 10, 1929 at Beaufort, South Carolina to the late George C. McKamey and Hermia Brainard McKamey. Rose Marie was a graduate of Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She married Jewell Hooper (Sam) that same year. Rose Marie was a pediatric nurse for three pediatricians in Winter Park for twenty years. She was the loving wife and companion for Sam for 73 1/2 years. Early in her married life, God blessed her with three children: son, Daniel Brooks, and daughters Rebecca Ann (Stone) and Betty Lynn (Hoffman). Rose Marie learned very early in her marriage to manage her home and responsibilities as well as managing the office of three pediatricians. She also served the lord faithfully as a wife of a Deacon and as a youth Sunday School teacher. God gave her a wonderful talent for music. She attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia as a student in voice and piano prior to her moving to Orlando, Florida to become a registered nurse. She used her talent for the glory of her Lord and Savior.

Rose Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McKamey, and a brother, George C. McKamey. 

She enjoyed ten summers spent in the mountains of North Carolina. She and Sam took many trips in their RV seeing God's workmanship throughout this beautiful country.

Rose Marie leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, her three children, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, as well as many Christian friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1 from 2-4PM at Lankford Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 2 at 11AM at Palm Cemetery in Winter Park with Reverend John Mitcham officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to Samaritan's Purse.
