IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Louise
Wilson
November 17, 1940 – March 23, 2026
Memorial Service
Sandra S. Wilson, 85, passed away peacefully at home in DeLand, Florida on March 23, 2026, after a life lived with grace, warmth, and an abiding love for her family and friends.
Born November 17, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, Sandra was the daughter of Glen and Louise Slough. She pursued her education at Colorado College, where she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta, before meeting the love of her life, David Wilson, during a school break. The two became engaged before Sandra went on to complete her degree at Northwestern University.
Sandra began her professional life as a third-grade teacher and was also a Vice President with Vitacraft, a cookware company founded by her late father, Glen Slough, before turning her full attention to raising her family. In later years, she owned Sandy’s Sportswear in Maitland, Florida with her sister Barbara.
Those who knew Sandra knew a woman of genuine warmth and quiet elegance. Sandra had a longstanding passion for the arts, having volunteered with the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College and the Council of 101 at the Orlando Museum of Art. Her home reflected her eye for beauty — she had a deep appreciation for antiques, art, and decorating, and she brought the same thoughtfulness to her cooking, creating meals that gathered people together. She also had a deep love of gardening and took great pride in her rose garden. She was an avid reader and a lover of music, and she enjoyed traveling with family and friends, including trips to Hawaii, London, Montreux, Scandinavia, and Paris to name a few. Closer to home, Sandra cherished time spent at Ormond By The Sea and in the mountains of Highlands, North Carolina — places that held a special place in her heart.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Louise Slough, and her beloved siblings, Barbara and George. She is survived by her husband, David Wilson; her children, Glen Mackie (Mac) and Heather; and her grandchildren, Jacob, Will, and David. Her dutiful westie, Macadoo will also greatly miss her.
Sandra Wilson was a loving wife and mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and long remembered.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in DeLand, Florida starting at 10:30 AM with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Gentiva Hospice Foundation or to the Altar Guild of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
