Stanley Bruce Green, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, educator, mentor, Hall of Fame sports information director, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, integrity, service, and unconditional love. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Betty Green, whom he married in 1958. For more than 66 years, theirs was a remarkable love story built on unwavering devotion, shared faith, and a lifelong partnership that blessed generations. Yet if you asked Stan what mattered most, his answer had nothing to do with awards or Hall of Fame honors. In a 2005 interview, when asked about his greatest accomplishment, he simply said: “Family is always a work in progress. Seeing the success of your children is always important. I feel it is a huge accomplishment.”

Those words perfectly reflected the way he lived.

A man of deep Christian faith, Stan faithfully served as a deacon in his church in Oklahoma and was a devoted member of the Beville Church of Christ in Daytona Beach, where he continued to worship and serve throughout his later years. His faith was not something he simply professed, it was something he lived each day through humility, kindness, service to others, and steadfast devotion to his family.

Stan dedicated more than four decades to collegiate athletics and sports communications, earning induction into the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame in 2006, the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1987, and the Harding University Hall of Fame in 1991. Throughout his distinguished career, he mentored countless student-athletes and colleagues while helping shape the profession of sports information on a national level.

Stan is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Green; his children, Greg (Patti) Green, Todd (Leslie) Green, and Stacy (Scott) Rottluff; his grandchildren, TJ Green, Brittany Green Gloersen, Esq., Justin Green, Jessica Smith, and SFC Jacob Rottluff, U.S. Army, U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC); and his cherished great-grandchildren, Gabriella Green, Gregory “Gray” Gloersen, Beau Green, Ford Green, Wyatt Smith, Emily Smith, Elaine Smith, and soon-to-arrive Aria Rottluff. Every one of them knew they were deeply loved, endlessly encouraged, and always his greatest source of pride.
