Obituary

Suk Hui Dinovo, a woman of profound strength, humor and heart, passed away peacefully at her home on January 6, 2026. Born on March 5, 1948, in Inchon City, Kyonggi-do, Korea, Suk Hui’s life was defined by her unwavering commitment to her family and her lifelong connection to the military community.

Suk Hui was the heart of her home, a devoted homemaker and an amazing cook. She truly mastered the culinary arts of two cultures, delighting her family with her expertise in both traditional Korean dishes and American favorites. Above all, she showed her love through her cooking, ensuring that no one ever left her table hungry and that every meal felt like a celebration of family.

She was known by all as an extremely hard worker who balanced the needs of her home with a long and impactful career. As a military spouse of over 25 years, she navigated the challenges of military life with grace, making a warm and welcoming home for her family wherever they were stationed across the globe. She extended that dedication to the wider military community through her professional life, supporting the military in the food and beverage industry for over 40 years. Through her long career, she became a familiar and supportive presence to countless service members and their families.

Suk Hui was an amazing grandmother who poured her love into her grandkids, cherishing every moment watching them grow. She found immense joy in the simple things in life, particularly her love for animals. She was a lifelong dog lover with a special, enduring fondness for poodles, who were her constant and faithful companions.

In her final months, she faced a number of health challenges, but her infectious humor and devotion to those she loved remained undiminished and will be remembered always.

She is survived by her husband of almost 53 years, Donald Dinovo; her older brother Wonsek Son; her sisters Mee Ja Son, Kyong McCoy, and Chong Cho; her daughter, Sherry Sergi; her son, Kenneth Dinovo; and her grandchildren, Raye and Sabine Dinovo, and Katie Sergi.

In lieu of a funeral service, the family will hold a private viewing, with cremation to follow.
