On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, 11:06pm, Adela Minerva Cortes Flores, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 89 in DeLand, Florida after a short illness. Her funeral Service will be held this Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic and prayed daily for family and friends.
Adela Minerva, was born on December 16, 1931 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She married Ivan Domingo Cornier and raised 2 children. She dedicated a vast part of her career in the Puerto Rico Department of Education in which she supervised special needs programs and helped their families. She enjoyed dancing, knitting, shopping, word puzzles, concerts and watching sports. But most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Adela Minerva is survived by her son, Ivan D. Cornier Jr. and his wife Maria A. Cornier, her daughter, E. Jeanette Cornier. Her grandchildren, Denise Rodriguez-Nazario and her husband Gilbert Nazario, Elaine Rodriguez, Ivan J. Cornier, Jr. and his wife Melanie A. Cornier, Matthew J. Rodriguez and his wife Christi Rodriguez, Michael I. Cornier and his wife Yvonne Cornier, Michelle M. Cornier and E. Giovanni Colon. Great grandchildren, Keisha D. Cornier, Gabriel W. Cornier and his wife Kenzie Cornier, Ian N. Abella, Evan N. Nazario, Alaina L. Cornier, Andrew A. Abella, Dominic Cornier, Olivia M. Cornier, Sophia M. Cornier and great-great grandchild Josiah J. Acosta.
