Lynn Bruce MacNeill

10/19/1947 - 12/06/2020

Lynn Bruce MacNeill, 73, of Sebring, FL died on December 16, 2020, after a hard battle with Covid-19. He was born on October 19, 1947, in Redfield, SD to Elton Bruce and Alice Iona (Binger) MacNeill. Lynn grew up on the family farm in Tulare learning the morals and values of life through farm life. He went into the Peace Corps and worked in India helping with agriculture and irrigation projects. He obtained his Master’s Degree and started working at South Florida Junior College, now known as South Florida State College, teaching Speech and Theatre History, as well as directing numerous productions on the stages of SFJC and Highlands Little Theatre.

He so enjoyed his 46 years teaching his students and getting to know each and every one of them and was always proud of the accomplishments he saw from them. He served as president of ARC and enjoyed spending time with all of those friends at the Special Olympics or on trips to Circus World. He was honored to serve his community as an auxiliary police officer for the Sebring Police Department for many years. Mr. Mac, as he was fondly called by many, enjoyed spending time with his family hunting, fishing, eating, and watching sports, especially the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Bucs. Many life lessons were taught to his sons and grandchildren in a fishing boat, in a tree stand, on a tractor, standing beside his Big Green Egg, or even from his couch. His infectious smile and positive charm will be missed by all who knew him.

Lynn says “See You Later” and “I LOVE YOU” to his devoted Wife Kara; Sons- Darin (Kathy) MacNeill, Mark (Enid) MacNeill, and Travis Campbell; Mother- Alice MacNeill; Siblings- Jeanette (Lyle) Kleinsasser, Deanne Ness, Brian (Kristine)MacNeill, and Colleen (Dale) Kightlinger. He also will be missed by 4 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren and many Grand-pets.

Lynn said he did not want any “frills” and due to the pandemic, there will not be a gathering or service at this time. Those who knew him know he thought of others over himself and he would be mortified if someone were to get sick paying respects to him. Please wear masks and stay safe.

In lieu of flowers, those who would like to honor Lynn can do so by donating to the South Florida State College Foundation in his name to help provide scholarships to students wanting to learn. SFSC Foundation, 13 East Main Street, Avon Park, FL 33825.

Thank you to all who touched and blessed his life.
