Cole Mathew Tennihill, born 8/9/2001, sadly departed us on his “Stairway to Heaven” on 5/25/22. To know Cole was a life reward for his family, friends and even acquaintances…a gentle giant in the lives he touched. He was one of a kind enjoying life to its fullest as an avid angler in the waters of St. Johns River catching the biggest bass and redfish and as a craftsman at Biscayne Boat works. As a boy he enjoyed the sea with his Grandpa and cousins in the Florida Keys. In his teens, he became an expert fisherman teaching many the “tricks of the trade”, but still had that “one of kind” cast and lure that caught the big ones winning many a fish tournament. Cole’s easy-going nature made many, many real family-like friends who he enjoyed the best of times with making everlasting memories. He was loved and adored by all those who were so fortunate to know him surrounding himself with a fantastic group of individuals. He was intensely driven studying mechanical engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and had big dreams to build watercraft with all his beloved buddy friends.
Cole was unexpectedly called Home to the Heavens doing what he loved, being on the water, sadly leaving behind his Mother, Dona, Father, Tom and older Brother, Shane and a slew of family and friends who made his life the best it could be. Cole is now up in Heaven fishing the most beautiful lakes, rivers and oceans, catching the biggest fish and forever watching and waiting for us to pass through the Golden Gates.
Knowing Cole will surely leave an indelible mark on all those who experienced his gentle demeanor, subtle wit and his fervor for excellence in everything he strived for. It is unimaginable and surreal that Cole is no longer physically with us, but his spirit and special memories will forever be remembered as the GEM which lives on shining in good times and in bad—“always there to have our backs!!” Cole was placed in each of our lives to teach us a lesson … remember the wisdom Cole bestowed in your heart today and use it as his legacy to make your life and those around you more bountiful each and every day.
You know who you are when Cole would say:

“Are you ok?”…
“Can you believe we caught the big ones!!
“See you all soon!”
Know that Cole is waiting for all who made his short time with us special and inseparably eternal.
