Geraldine Angela Riley was born in Euclid, West Virginia on April 15, 1935 to Merchie Hunt and Rhetta Marie Salyers of Calhoun County, WV. She died peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Advent Health in Deland, FL.
She was a loving sister to Wanda Faye (Sheeler), Merchie, Jr., twin sister Pauline Marsha (Durst), Harold Lee, and Richard Glen (adopted at age three by a Riley family unrelated to her husband Patrick Dennis Riley). Geraldine was the loving wife of 65 years to Patrick Dennis Riley of Salisbury, PA, and a loving mother to son Gerald, daughter Charlotte, and son Shawn.
She graduated from Calhoun High School, Grantsville, WV, and was employed by the Salisbury PA Garment Co. and Sorensen Manufacturing Co., NYC, NY. Geraldine was very active as a volunteer at St. Martin's Catholic Church school in Gaithersburg, MD, and was a devoted housewife.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Patrick Dennis Riley, now of Frederick, MD, son Gerald Patrick Riley of New Market, MD, daughter Charlotte Marie Riley of Walkersville, MD, son Shawn Colin Riley and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Riley of Frederick, MD, and her extended family including nieces Linda (Mike) Duncan, Karen Winebrenner, Lisa Frye, Debbie Durst, Tammy Riley, Maryanne Marshall, Heather (Paul) Salber, and nephews Richard Riley and Michael (Theresa) Riley.
Geraldine will be remembered at a mass and burial on Saturday, December 03, 2022 at 2:00pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church cemetery in West Salisbury, PA. A private family gathering will follow.
