Hildegardis "Hilde" Hansen

Hildegardis "Hilde" Hansen, 86, of Deland, FL died October 17, 2022. Born on June 13, 1936, in Bingen am Rhein, Germany, she was the daughter of Werner Hansen and Johanna Kost.
Hilde immigrated to the United States with her parents and sister at the age of 17 and resided on East 87th Street, NYC. She purchased a home near her parents in Deland, FL in 1972, though she also resided and worked in Iran, Houston, Germany and Connecticut before settling in Florida. Prior to retiring in 2020, Hilde had been employed at John Knox Village in Orange City, FL for over 20 years.
Hilde loved to travel, especially to visit those close to her, or as an adventure shared with companions. She shared an infectious sense of humor and was quick to gather friends and family for a good laugh, well-made food, and cold beer. Her generosity of spirit remains an example of a life enjoyed to its fullest. She brought joy to the lives she touched and will be deeply missed by her family and friends, far and near.
Hilde is survived by her sister and brother-in law, Gabriele VanNest and Thomas VanNest of Ormond Beach, FL, two nephews, Michael Ankener of Lawrenceville, NJ and Jason VanNest of Brattleboro, VT, two grandnephews, Calvin Ankener of MD, Luca VanNest of VT, and one grandniece, Cassandra Ankener of NJ.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Hilde’s honor for her family and friends. The service will be Wednesday, December 28th at 11:00 am located at the Lankford Funeral Homes & Crematory, 220 E New York Ave, DeLand, FL 32724. A reception will follow the service.
