Kathleen Marie Leis (nee’ O’Brien), age 88, of DeLand, Florida passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021 at Advent Health Hospice Center in Orange City, Florida. A Mass honoring Kathleen will be held at St Peter Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on September 25, 2021 at 359 West New York Avenue, DeLand. There will be a luncheon after the Mass at the Sanborn Activity Center, 815 Alabama Avenue in DeLand. Kathleen was born on October 23, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Michael O’Brien and Bridget O’Brien (née Joyce) of County Mayo, Ireland. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Leis, and husband, David Charles Leis. Survivors include her daughters Peggy Ann Leis of Lake Mary, Florida, Amy Leis Cheney (John Cheney) of DeLand, Florida, and Nancy Marie Fisher (née Leis) of Cape Coral, FL. Survivors also include her grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Fisher of Cape Coral, FL and Owen Leis Fisher of Cape Coral, FL. Also survived are her sisters, Rosemary O’Connell of Berwyn, IL and Peggy Corrigan of Kingswood, TX. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that donations be made to The Advent Health Hospice in Orange City, FL or any charity of choice in memory of Kathleen.
