Linda L. Helmick Newcomb, 74, of Deland, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. Linda was born on January 17th, 1948, to Coy W. Ammons and Elizabeth M. Ammons, in Washington, DC. Linda enjoyed baking, shopping, beaches, casinos and shows in Las Vegas, and spending time with her beloved husband, her dog Baby and her family. Linda was known for her kindness and loving spirit. Linda was cherished by all of those who had the honor of knowing her. Linda always inspired others with her incredible personality and passion for life.
Linda was employed by Verizon at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia for over 32 years and was a 9/11 survivor. Linda was a dedicated employee who demonstrated excellence in all areas of her position. Linda was also employed as a driver by Deland Nissan, in Deland, Florida. Linda loved her position at Deland Nissan and developed many wonderful relationships over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Charles Richard Newcomb, of Deland, Florida. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Coy W. Williams, and Elizabeth M. Ammons, and sister, Mary Harnage. Linda is survived by her brothers, Doug Ammons, (Gail), Dan Ammons, ( Elaine), Sisters, Brenda LaPerre (Art), Barbara Oliver, Robin Young (Ted), Deborah Barber (Mike) and a half sister Jan Bowen. Linda is also survived by her children, grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation Services will be held at Lankford Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 4:00- 5:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 5:00 PM.
