Sarah Elizabeth Champagne peacefully passed away at the age of 95. Her funeral service will be held at Lankford Funeral Home in Deland Florida Saturday August 28th. 2-3pm Visitation, 3pm Service. She will be laid to rest at Deland Memorial Gardens. She is survived by her six children Dana (John), Leamon (Kate), Doyle (Cheryl), Daryl (Dottie), Delana (Robert), and Lowell, her 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.
Sarah Champagne was born on October 23, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia to Carrie Etheridge Beal and Robert Lee Brown. After graduating from West Fulton High School in 1943, she married James E. Ratterree and raised her six children. After James passed, she went on to attended school where she earned her LPN license. Sarah worked as a nurse at Volusia Memorial Hospital and a home health care nurse for a many number of years. During this time Sarah remarried Edmond J. Champagne. She had a lighthearted disposition, truly had a desire to help anyone and everyone, and was known to be quick witted with a sense of humor. Sarah was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
