Thomas Richard Hines

2/6/2024

In loving memory of Tom Hines, we mourn the passing of a devoted husband, father, and dedicated employee of Publix for nearly a half century. Tom's journey began in Boston, Massachusetts on November 29, 1956, and he peacefully departed from us in Deland, Florida on February 6, 2024.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to his family, survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Sherry, and his cherished children Stephen and Tommy along with their wives, Chelsea and Lena and grandchildren Felicity, Hailey, Emma, and Thomas  . His devotion to his family was unwavering, and his love for them knew no bounds. He was a pillar of strength, providing guidance, support, and endless love throughout their lives.

Professionally, Tom was a valued member of the Publix family for more than 4 decades. His commitment to excellence and his strong work ethic made him an integral part of the team. Whether he was stocking shelves, assisting customers, or lending a helping hand to his colleagues, Tom approached his work with dedication and a warm smile.

Outside of work, Tom was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. Before his dementia, he was always willing to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand to those in need. His close friend Bill Scott could attest to his devotion to his friends and family.

Tom's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him dearly, but his memory will forever be cherished. He will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering love for his family, and his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 10am on February 11, 2024 at Lankford Funeral Home, Deland, followed by a graveside burial at 3pm on Monday February 12, 2024 at Hollywood Cemetery, Orange City, Florida (1031 S Carpenter Ave, Orange City, FL 32763). May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
