Armando Lopez, Jr., aged 76, of DeLand, passed away on March 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of service, creativity, and love. Armando was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, to Armando Lopez Galvan and Lilia Rosado. He served his country with honor in the Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his commitment to duty and sacrifice.

Armando's professional journey led him to the culinary world, where his passion for cooking flourished. As a chef, he brought joy to many with his delicious creations. Outside of work, he found solace and joy in various activities, including spending time at the beach, fishing, and indulging in the timeless allure of old westerns. He was an avid follower of golf and relished being amidst nature.

His interests were diverse, reflecting his rich personality. Armando was a history enthusiast, finding fascination in the stories of the past. He also possessed a talent for woodworking and oil painting, a skill that garnered him recognition, notably earning 2nd place at the VA art show for his remarkable paintings.

Armando's dedication extended beyond his personal interests. He was deeply involved in his community, volunteering alongside his wife, Ilia, at The Pantry to provide assistance to those in need. He was particularly committed to supporting fellow veterans, assisting them in navigating the complexities of disability benefit applications. His pride in his heritage was evident in everything he did.

Armando is preceded in death by his parents, Armando Lopez Galvan and Lilia Rosado, and his sister, Doris Lilia Matias. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ilia Lopez, his sons, Marc Lopez and Armando Daniel Lopez III, his daughter, Damaris Lopez-Canales, his brother, Thomas Lopez, and six cherished grandchildren.

A visitation and service to honor Armando's life will be held at The Sanctuary Church, followed by burial at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Armando's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion serving as an enduring inspiration to all. May he rest in eternal peace.

Viewing will be held at the City Sanctuary Church, 401 East Taylor Road, DeLand, FL 32724 on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am with celebration of life services starting at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
