Dr. William Randolph "Randy" Glover

Dr. William Randolph Glover

06/04/2023

Dr. William Randolph "Randy" Glover, a beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2023. He will be remembered for his kindness, love, and the positive impact he had on countless lives.

Randy was born on May 26, 1949, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to his parents William and Mildred Glover. After a brief period in Chicago, his family settled in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Randy attended Middleburg High School, where his academic and athletic talents shone brightly, earning him the honor of being the Valedictorian. He furthered his education at Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Randy's thirst for knowledge led him to pursue a Masters degree in Mathematics Education from Kent State University.

On August 22, 1970, Randy married his High School sweetheart, Patricia, fondly known as "Patti" to most and as "Tigger" to him. Patti happened to be the sister of his best friend, John.

Throughout his career as an educator, Randy's passion for teaching touched the lives of numerous students. He began his teaching journey at Middleburg Heights Jr. High from 1971 to 1979. Later, he moved to Florida with his growing family, which now included his two children, Nicole and Gary. Randy continued to inspire young minds as a dedicated 8th-grade mathematics teacher in the Seminole County School system from 1980 to 2011. It was during this time that he achieved his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Central Florida.

Beyond the classroom, Randy had a range of interests, including tennis, golf, fishing, crushing sudoku puzzles, and cheering on the Ohio State football team. Yet, his greatest interest in life was the happiness of those around him, especially his cherished children and his adored wife.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, his children Nicole Bishop and Gary (Vanessa) Glover, his mother Mildred Glover, his brothers Gary, Richard, and Paul Glover, and his four grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, Amber, and Kaylie.

A memorial service will be held on June 12th, 2023, at Lankford Funeral Home, located at 220 East New York in DeLand, FL. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am, followed by the service at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in honor of Randy, as a testament to his caring and compassionate nature.

May the memories of Randy's love and kindness provide comfort to all who mourn his passing. He will forever be in our hearts.
