Thereafter, she met the love of her life, Antoine (Tony) George who was serving in the US Army. It took them 3 years to get approval to marry and for Trudy to immigrate to the United States.

The Family moved often in the early years (Pennsylvania, Georgia, South Carolina, Germany, Washington State, then finally to Florida in 1969, moving to DeLand in 1985.

A lifelong gardener, Trudy was a member of the Rose Circle of the Deland Garden Club and was known to be happiest tending her plants and providing for others. Son Ben, a recognized expert in growing Camelias, honored her by officially naming a new camellia variety he developed in her name…camellia japonica “Trudy George”.
