Gracie Alu

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Gracie Alu, who departed from this world on February 4, 2024, in Deland, Florida. Gracie was born on February 9, 1943, in Passaic, New Jersey, and later moved to Deland in 1973.
Gracie dedicated her life to serving others, particularly within the realm of education. She found great joy and fulfillment working in the public school systems of both New Jersey and Florida, where her compassionate nature and warm smile endeared her to countless children as a teacher's aide and cafeteria aide.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Gracie's faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. She found solace and strength in her religious community, regularly attending church and cherishing the fellowship of others.
Gracie leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her son Gordon Banta, her brother Thomas Alu, grandchildren Sophia Banta-Neto, and Marcus Banta, along with various nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved children, Joe Banta and Teresa Banta, and her brother Jack Bello.
In her memory, let us remember: "Blessed with eternal life are those who believe in Christ."
A memorial service to celebrate Gracie's life will be held at Lankford Funeral Home in Deland, Florida, on February 24th, 2024, at 1:00 pm
