James Mayse

On Thursday, July 14, 2022, James Mayse, loving husband and father of seven children, passed away at the age of 90. James was born on May 20, 1932, to Delbert and Ruby Mayse in Winfield, Tennessee. James was a Marines veteran who took great pride in a hard day’s work and providing for his family. His favorite pastime in retirement was running his family farm alongside his wife, Shirley. He spent many years raising cattle and growing vegetables for his family and friends. James loved the outdoors and was able to teach and pass along this passion to his children and grandchildren. One of James’s favorite activities was mowing his beautiful pasture. He was also known for helping out his neighbors and keeping their yards pristine as well. James always enjoyed meeting new people and because of this was loved not only by family but by so many in the community.
James was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Mayse, his mother, Ruby Mayse, and his son, Jimmy Ray Mayse. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mayse; his sister, Mary “Lenora” Duncan; his children, Phylis Terry, Mary Jeffers, Diane Anderson, John Mayse, Danny Mayse, and Melissa Mayse; his grandchildren, Aiden Singer, Ashley McCann, Alison Jeffers, Jamie Mayse, Danielle Phillips, Misty West, Lori Steakley, Jason Mayse, Stacy Dishner, Mary Keeton, Jonathan Jeffers, Daniel Mayse, Haley Mayse, Benjamin Neely, and Travis Neely; many great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
