Judy Moore Armstrong

11/2/2023

Judy Moore Armstrong, a beloved resident of DeLand, Florida, passed away on November 2, 2023, at the age of 75. With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable woman who was not only a devoted wife and mother but also made an incredible impact in the lives of those who knew her.

A renowned country cook, Judy's culinary skills were nothing short of legendary. If she was in the kitchen, you could count on being welcomed into her home for a delicious meal and good company. She knew that food was more than just sustenance; it was a source of comfort, joy, and connection.

Beyond her kitchen, Judy found much joy in tending to her orchids, nurturing their beauty with the same care and attention she gave to her loved ones. She was also a dedicated enthusiast of Boykin Spaniels, rescuing and sharing her life with these wonderful companions. She loved a good "wine-down" on the deck with friends and neighbors, or anyone who happened by and wanted to join in. Judy's love for her family heritage led her to spend countless hours on Ancestry.com, piecing together the story of her roots to share with relatives across the globe.

Judy and her husband, Rick, were not only life partners but business partners as well. They owned Holly Bluff Marina on the St. Johns River for more than 30 years, being one of the original houseboat rental operations in Florida. From the day they cruised into the dock, their leadership style and compassion created such a welcoming atmosphere that led to an incredible loyalty and respect from their employees, customers and community partners. Prior to moving to Central Florida in the mid-80's, they lived in Gilbertsville, Kentucky, and were integral in the operation of her family's business, The Moors Resort on the Kentucky Lake.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Rick, and their daughter, Jennifer Armstrong. She is also remembered by her brothers, Danny and Steve Moore. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Stella Moore, and her brother, Jerry Moore.

To honor Judy's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held in DeLand at the Lake Beresford Yacht Club on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please join us in sharing stories and memories of Judy's extraordinary life.

An additional memorial event for her Kentucky family and friends will be held in Gilbertsville, Kentucky, at Moors Resort on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM .

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the following charitable organizations:
