Laxmiben S. Patel

We are honoring the life of Laxmiben S. Patel. Born on May 15, 1940 in Varad, Bardoli. She married Sanmukhlal (Bhikubhai) Patel in 1962. In 1964, they had their first daughter, Sarwary. In 1965, the family moved from India to Leicester, England. Between 1967 and 1979 they were joined by their three additional daughters, Hina, Shilpa, and Dimple. In July of 1979, the family immigrated to the United States and resided in Dothan, Alabama where they purchased their first business. They also resided in Albany, Georgia and finally settled in Deland, Florida, where they’ve lived for the past 24 years.
Ma was a lover of many things: nature and trees, feeding the hungry, her family, and education. She enjoyed eating, taking walks and conversing with the neighbors, and loved going to garba. Ma was loving and adamant that everything around her was perfect.
Laxmiben is survived by her dear husband and their four daughters and son-in-law, Tushar. Laxmiben has six grandchildren, Trisha, Tarak, Tristan, Tanya, Tulsi, and Dylan. Laxmiben is also survived by her sisters, Sitaben and Manjuben.
