On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Margaret A. Stone Golden, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed peacefully with family by her side at the age of 79.


Margaret was born November 17, 1941, in DeLand, FL to Charles Edward Stone and Margaret Elease Brinson Stone Carter. Margaret was the oldest of eight children. Margaret spent her last 40 years as a CNA caring for elderly patients.


She found joy spending time with babies, children, and animals. Margaret found adventure with her grandchildren traveling frequently to Cherokee, NC to experience the Native American ceremonies.


The life of the party she loved to sing, dance, and cruise on the water. An avid Elvis fan she was a "Hard Headed Woman" with an infectious smile and kind spirit. Margaret brought love, laughter, and sunshine to the lives of others.


Margaret was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4201 and the Loyal Order of Moose #1003. She enjoyed volunteering and helping others.


Margaret is preceded in death by her father Charles, her mother Margaret, two siblings, and one grandchild. She is survived by her four children Eddie Short (Hope), Chuck Coleman, Suzie Mott (Mike), Stephanie Bowden, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, five sisters, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand from 3:00-5:00 p.m., with visitation starting 3:00 p.m. and funeral service beginning at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in her honor.
