Mary “Anne” Floyd, of DeLand, Florida passed away on April 7, 2022.

She was the only daughter of Frank H. Bell and Bea Bell Wright.

Her parents came to DeLand in 1927 when her father was transferred from manager of

Beachum Theater, Orlando, to manager of Dreka Theater and Athens Theater.

The Athens Theater was purchased by the Sparks Theaters Inc. and opened by Mr. Bell in early 1930’s for first talking motion pictures in DeLand.

Mr. Bell was theater manager in DeLand until 1938 and Mrs. Wright was a resident of DeLand until her death in 1983.

Anne was born in DeLand on August 15, 1928, in the old DeLand Memorial Hospital on Stone Street. Raised in DeLand, she graduated in 1946 form DeLand Senior High School then located on

North Clara Ave.: attended Florida Southern College, Lakeland, FL and was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.

She was employed as secretary to Dean L.A. Haslup, Stetson University College of Law, when the Law School was located at DeLand Airport and later was moved to St. Petersburg in 1954.

She was secretary to John L. Graham, attorney, of then law firm of Hull, Landis, Graham, and French from 1954-1959.

Anne then served as Administrative Legal Secretary, State Attorney’s office , 7th Judicial Circuit at the courthouse in DeLand from 1967 until retirement.

She was an active communicant of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in DeLand.

Her arrangements are being cared for by her nephew, Michael “Mickey” and Jennifer Thomas of North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Floyd.

Viewing will be Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 1:00p.m. until service time at 2:00p.m. at Lankford Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers she requested donations to be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 319 West Wisconsin Ave., DeLand, FL 32720 in her memory.
