Mary Ellen Gusky quietly entered the arms of our Lord early on the morning of April 12th.
Those who held her hand in passing include her husband, William W. Gusky, her five children: Martin, William, Eric, Kristin, and Jennifer; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Mary now joins her mother Emily Springer, father William Springer, and brothers Tom and Bill, as well as her beloved stepfather Leonard Reichert.
Born in the winter of 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri, Mary channeled her compassion, faith, and love into a life of serving others that included tutoring special needs children and Christian education. At age 65, while others were winding down, Mary co-founded and became Administrator of the Good Samaritan Clinic of West Volusia in Deland, which has since provided medical and dental health care to more than four thousand uninsured people living throughout Central Florida.
Following a private burial, those who know and love Mary are invited to an outdoor Celebration of Life at the amphitheater at Earl Brown Park, 750 S Alabama Ave, DeLand, on Saturday, April 17th, from 1 to 3 pm. Masks are required, as per CDC guidelines.
