Mary Jean "just call me MJ" Marshall-Cooper, 86, of Deland,Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 6, 2023. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Cooley High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and dedicated her professional life as a Dental Hygienist in Michigan.
Moving to Deland in 1989, she and her husband Jeremy Cooper, become active Members of the Deland Country Club. She served on several committees and was Captain of her Tennis team for many years. MJ was also a member of Alpha Delta Phi and played a pivotal role in establishing a chapter at the University of Central Florida, leaving a lasting legacy.
MJ was feisty and competitive, but always fair. She had a huge battle every November when her beloved Michigan played Ohio State. You see her husband was an OSU Alumni. They would decorate the house in their colors. Even the sons, dog and cat had to wear the colors of one or the other.Life was never normal until the smoke cleared the next day. Life was good until next year!
