Mary Ruth McClain

Mary Ruth McClain

6/5/2023

Early morning on June 5th Mary Ruth was swept into the arms of her Lord and Savior and entered her time of glory. There is no doubt, she is now smiling and enjoying so many loved ones and friends that went home before her time.

Mary Ruth was born September 9, 1942 in New Enterprise, Pa. to Joseph and Ella Fae Gamble.

She was raised in Fruitland Park, Florida in a large, close knit, Christian family. She was a very understanding and forgiving person. Her faith was unshakable.

She graduated from Leesburg High School in 1960 and went on to marry her high school sweetheart James “Jim” whom preceded her into glory in 1999. Jim and Mary Ruth moved to DeLand in the mid-sixties.

Mary Ruth worked for many years at Stetson Baptist Christian School as their bookkeeper and later with the Volusia County School System at Boston Avenue School and Deltona High School working with special needs children.

Mary Ruth leaves behind her daughter Amy “Darlene” with grandchildren Kayleigh, Lawson, Justin (Shelly), Matthew, Samuel and Summer, along with, Great Grandchildren, Logan and Skyleigh.

She also leaves behind her son, Mark (Stephanie) with Grandchildren Sterlin (Janelle), Zachary and Edgar (Caitlin).

Remaining living siblings: Rae (Della Mae) of New Enterprise, Pa., John (Edie) of Fruitland Park, Fl. and Tommy (Sally) of Lady Lake, Fl.

Known as “Aunt Doodle” to her maiden family or “Aunt Mary Ruth” to the McClain family, she leaves many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, far too many to list. She knew and enjoyed all of them along with their children.

To all the family and friends: Please know she cherished and loved each and every one of you.

In lieu of flowers, if you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, please do so and join her when your time has come.

Amen.

Celebration of Life will be held July 8th at 2pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 650 E Michigan Av, DeLand.
