Michael Wayne Murphy of Ormond Beach, Florida was a loving husband, son, and father of three children. He passed away suddenly on December 16, 2021, at the age of 53.
Michael was born on April 16, 1968, in Daytona Beach, Florida. He grew up in DeLand, Florida and attended St. Peter Catholic School and DeLand High School (class of 1986), where he made many friends and was loved by all. He ran various businesses throughout his life, and for the last several years he thrived working as a Supervisor at Phillips Ranch.
Michael was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and calm demeanor. He was quick to lend a helping hand to others, and his warm and generous nature always put everyone around him at ease. He loved to spend time with his family, including his wife of ten years, Stephanie, his mother, Pearl (Momo), and his three children, Forrest, Ashley, and Hunter. You could often find him somewhere outdoors: surfing, fishing, hunting, or exploring.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents Devota and Doc Hayes and uncles Tom Herr and Melvin Moon. He is survived by his wife Stephanie King Murphy, mother Pearl Hayes Murphy, three children Forrest (Elizabeth) Murphy, Ashley Murphy, and Hunter Murphy, sister Michelle (Mark) Smith, Stephanie’s parents Jeff (Beth) King and Carol (Lex) Phillips, and several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 11:00am, also at Lankford Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Halifax Humane Society in Michael’s honor.
