Roy Emanuel John Costa, 71, born in New York City passed away, August 21, 2022 in Florida. Preceded in death by his parents and elder sister; survived by his wife, 3 brothers, sister, 6 children, and their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved and adored.
Obtaining his BS from University of Arizona and his MS (MBA) from Florida Institute of Technology, Roy was a retired public health official, sanitarian consultant and expert witness. He was the founder and president of Environ Health Associates and a registered Professional Sanitarian with more than 40 years of experience in the field of disease prevention, public health and education, within the academic, government and private sectors. During his career, Roy had the esteemed pleasure to be able to sit on many associations, boards and committees, ranging from local municipalities to a CDC subcommittee.
Writing, recording and performing music was done throughout much of his life; he was a gifted musician. Roy loved nature, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors with his family. Retelling stories from his youth was a favorite past time that his family loved.
Roy loved educating others; he had a brilliant mind and didn't waste it. If you were lucky enough to be in his circle, you couldn't have been more blessed. His zest and zeal in life was his family, music and public health. Because of Roy's faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior, his family rejoices in the fact that they will be reunited in heaven!
The family will receive visitors at the visitation (1100) and funeral (1200) on Friday, August 26, 2022, in the chapel at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E New York Ave, DeLand, Florida 32724. Immediately following, internment will be at Oakdale Cemetery, 800 N Clara Ave, DeLand, Florida 32720. The family will receive guests in their home immediately following these services.
