Ruth Eileen Youngquist

Ruth Eileen Youngquist, 97, of DeLand passed away on April 29, 2023. She was a member of the First Assembly Deland Church for 55 years.
Ruth was born on March 29, 1926, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada, to Norval and Beatrice Clark. She received her RN from the Victoria Hospital Training School for Nurses in Fredericton. Soon after she joined the Sunnybrook Veterans Affairs Hospital in Toronto caring for the injured returning from World War II, during which she received an associate degree. In the early 1950s she moved to the United States to work in a new expansion of Mercy Hospital, Rockville Center, NY. While there she met Lennart Youngquist, her future husband and in 1966 she and her new family moved to DeLand, Florida where she spent the rest of her life.
She is survived by three sons, Neal (Ai Hoon), Robert (Sharon), and Ralph (Kathleen), a daughter Susan (Jason), 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren as well as her brother Norval Clark. She was preceded in death by, Lennart, her husband of 55 years, her sister, Marjorie, and a brother, Ervin.
