Viria D. Mayer

Virginia D. Mayer

03/14/2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Viria D. Mayer, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed from this world on March 14, 2024, in Orlando, FL. Viria was born in Camden, NJ, to the late Peter B. and Viria D. Hodson.

Viria pursued a fulfilling career in nursing after her graduation, dedicating herself to caring for others until her well-deserved retirement. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as working on dot-to-dot books, crocheting, solving puzzles.

Her love for exploration and travel was boundless, as she embarked on countless adventures with her late husband, including memorable cruises and an epic 40-day journey across the United States and Canada. Viria's adventurous spirit knew no bounds, as evidenced by her exhilarating experiences riding in hot air balloons and scuba diving at the remarkable age of 80.

Viria leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Burzynski of DeLand, FL, and her sons: Andrew P. Walters of West Deptford, NJ, Robert J. Carroll of Newtown Square, PA, Charles L. Carroll of Pennsville, NJ, and Peter P. Carroll of DeLand, FL. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

At this time, no formal services are scheduled as the family gathers to honor Viria's memory and celebrate the vibrant life she lived. May her adventurous spirit, kindness, and love for life continue to inspire all who knew her. Viria will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
